Book description

The Valley of Little Rivers is a touching story centering around the adventures of two young 'brothers.' The setting is in the Illinois Valley of Southern Oregon during the gold rush of the mid 1800s.

The story gives the reader a clear view of the lives, struggles and circumstances of early gold rush settlers and their families. You will have an awareness of the cooperation and sharing between the settlers and the local "Takilma" tribes during the hard times and especially when facing the 'starvation' winter of 1852.

Much of what is told here is based on historical facts. Sherm Stevens was a real historical figure who was partly responsible for developing hydrolic mining in "Sailor Diggings." Some people, and some of the places mentioned (Browntown, Webfoot Brown) are factual and were instrumental in the forming of early Southern Oregon society.

Put yourself a century and a half back in time and enjoy the experiences of The Valley of Little Rivers.
